high-water curtains

if our 4th floor flat ever floods and the windows are open, our bedroom curtains will stay dry.

we rented a furnished flat and i suspect that aside from the bone china tea set and multiple sets of drinkware, the rest of our flat was furnished from a goodwill equivalent or junk yard.

we hesitate to purchase anything for the flat as it's only our temporary home.  but we finally broke down to replace our translucent drapes because we were tired of sleeping with light on our face.  and who can resist a fantastic deal like GBP 15 for a set of heavy, brown corduroy curtains at a little store in chepstow?

the curtains work great!  we sleep so much better.  and it makes us laugh every time we see our curtains hanging 5 inches shy of the window sill.
