max 80 kmph

we spent the day in hertfordshire, just north of london, taking in the countryside and amenities at the down hall country house hotel.  and while the 100+ acre property and surrounding areas are peaceful, the day started off rough with me getting a flat tire on our car rental BEFORE leaving london.

i vow to never rent a chevrolet matiz again.  it's low end in every respect and i just had a forboding feeling upon getting in the car...if we get hit, we're done.  the car is so light and the clutch sounds like it's about to drop.  this car is beyond budget.  so when the flat occurred, it was a mixed feeling of frustration and apologies (as they didn't have any other cars available) and relief in that maybe my 1 bad thing per car rental (tickets, gas charges, etc.) is behind me.

we drove to hertfordshire on the donut with a bright blue stripe around the center reading "max 80 kmph."  awesome.  do you know how fast (slow) that is?  50 mph.  we were on the m11 going 50 mph.

the afternoon was relaxing on the property then we walked to hatfield heath, the neighboring village, to watch the end of a local cricket match.  it was a nice, slow day.
